Pupil Premium/Disadvantaged

At Springhill Catholic Primary School, our commitment to the Gospel values of love, justice, and dignity ensures that every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, is empowered to reach their full potential. We recognise that the Pupil Premium is not just a funding stream, but a vital tool in narrowing the attainment gap and providing a level playing field for all our learners. By fostering an environment of high expectations and tailored support, we ensure that our Pupil Premium eligible children/disadvantaged children benefit from high-quality teaching, targeted academic interventions, and enriched pastoral care. Whether through subsidising educational visits, providing specialised literacy and numeracy support, or ensuring access to a wide range of extracurricular activities, we are dedicated to removing barriers to learning. At Springhill, we celebrate the unique gifts of every pupil, ensuring they grow in confidence, resilience, and faith as they journey through our school.

At Springhill Catholic Primary School, disadvantaged pupils are defined as those eligible for Pupil Premium funding, including pupils who are currently or have been eligible for Free School Meals within the last six years, children looked after by the local authority, and previously looked after children.

In line with our inclusive ethos, we also recognise that disadvantage may extend beyond statutory definitions. We therefore identify and support additional pupils who face significant barriers to learning, such as: SEND needs, young carers, safeguarding concerns, death of a parent or other vulnerabilities that may impact on their progress and well-being.

Our approach ensures that all disadvantaged pupils are accurately identified, closely monitored, and provided with targeted, evidence-informed support to remove barriers, secure strong progress, and enable them to fully access and succeed within a broad and ambitious curriculum.

Our school strategy can be found below.
