English as an Additional Language (EAL)
About Us / Our Values and Ethos:
As a diverse and inclusive school community, we recognise and value our pupils’ home languages, cultural backgrounds and the significant contribution that pupils who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL) bring to our school. Guided by the teachings of Jesus, we promote love, respect and compassion for all, celebrating the richness that diversity brings to our school. We view multilingualism as a strength and build on pupils’ knowledge of different cultures and languages to enhance learning for all. As a school, we take a whole-school approach to supporting EAL pupils through our ethos, curriculum and the promotion of language awareness across the school.
Children / Clubs and Sports:
Language Clubs
We offer a range of after-school Language Clubs that promote the learning and celebration of our children’s home languages and cultures through engaging, educational activities. Maintaining and developing a child’s home language, or learning a new language, brings many benefits, including strengthening cultural connections, as well as enhancing cognitive skills and overall academic success. We warmly encourage families to take advantage of these valuable opportunities. We currently offer a Polish and a Spanish Language Club and we are continuously working on expanding the offer.
